A short Guide to a Happy Life

I got this from www.bookbrowse.com
"Life is made of moments, small pieces of silver amidst long stretches of tedium. It would be wonderful if they came to us unsummoned, but particularly in lives as busy as the ones most of us lead now, that won't happen. We have to teach ourselves now to live, really live...to love the journey, not the destination."

In this treasure of a book, Anna Quindlen, the bestselling novelist and columnist, reflects on what it takes to "get a life"--to live deeply every day and from your own unique self, rather than merely to exist through your days. "Knowledge of our own mortality is the greatest gift God ever gives us," Quindlen writes, "because unless you know the clock is ticking, it is so easy to waste our days, our lives." Her mother died when Quindlen was nineteen: "It was the dividing line between seeing the world in black and white, and in Technicolor. The lights came on for the darkest possible reason....I learned something enduring, in a very short period of time, about life. And that was that it was glorious, and that you had no business taking it for granted." But how to live from that perspective, to fully engage in our days? In A Short Guide to a Happy Life, Quindlen guides us with an understanding that comes from knowing how to see the view, the richness in living.

This book is only 50 pages with pictures but it was from to have a quick read and just think about things a little different.  I need to calm down and look at things a little bit different.
Enjoy

The Anatomy of Peace

I got this description from amazon.com
Written as an engaging story, this book shows how mistaken views can cause people to misread situations and exacerbate the issues they wish to improve. Arguing that it is only after they understand themselves and get their internal house in order that they can correctly confront external conflicts, the book shows what can be done to make that happen, and how to make inner peace a potent tool for achieving outer satisfaction.
I finished this book today which is good because book club is tomorrow and that is right the book is a thinking book . Do you have to change after reading a book for change. I think it might be helpful to take a look at ourselves with new eyes. I was glad to be opened up to this book. The diagrams I got off the net. I wanted him here so I could reference back to them.

New Gift to give

The children have loved getting candy boquets. So that is what I decided that I am going to be doing for my activity day girls bday gifts and our special friends. Jylinn was excited that she was able to have so much candy. To have a party you need lots of help. I was glad that I could take pictures and that I could make flower balloons and swords. I learned how on you tube. I am so glad that we have the internet. This party was a tangled party.

Saving CeeCee Honeycutt

When my mother was down in the Summer she gave me this book. And I just got done with
it. It made me laugh and cry and think. I thought this was a great book. And would recommend it to anyone.
This is what it says on the back of the book.
"Twelve year old CECEE is in trouble for year she's taken care of her mother , Camille, the town's tiara-wearing, lipstick-smeared laughing stock, a woman who is trapped in her long ago moment of glory as the 1951 Vidal Onion queen."

Jacob has a great teacher this year. She has been Emma and Drew teacher to. So I was excited when he brought home his tin foil figure of himself. It looked awesome and he was so happy about it.
